It wasn't too many years ago that Gorilla Glue was mostly known to woodworkers as the maker of polyurethane glue. Then, in 2008, the company created a water-based, solvent-free cross-linking polyvinyl acetate (PVA) glue for wood-to-wood applications. In other words, Gorilla added their version of a workaday carpenter's glue to the product offerings. Unlike some other PVA glues, however, Gorilla Wood Glue offers a shorter 20-minute clamp time; the glue will fully cure in 24 hours. It is suitable for both interior and exterior applications, as it passes the ANSI Type II water-resistance specifications for limited weather exposure. For those with unheated shops, the glue can be applied in temperatures down to 55 degrees Fahrenheit without concern for bond strength or "chalking" that can occur at low temperatures. You can find Gorilla Wood Glue in both 8- and 18-ounce bottles, selling for $3.99 and $5.99 respectively. It is sold at hardware stores, home centers and other retailers nationwide.
