Another Kind of Plane from WoodCentral

There's no end to the range of help one can find online, as this OT (off topic) entry on a woodworking message board proves. – Editor

"I have a question on a Swedish plane, but not the woodworking type. My son, an airplane freak, received a JAS 39A Gripen model plane as a Christmas gift. He and I have a disagreement as how to pronounce Gripen. Is the 'i' pronounced as in 'mine' or as in 'tip'? Thanks." – Hoa

Sure enough, someone from Sweden quickly responded. – Editor

Gripen is pronounced 'Gree-pen' since 'i' in Swedish is pronounced as 'ee' in English. Gripen translates to The Gryphon, which is the mythological creature in the middle of SAAB's logo." – Bengt in Stockholm, Sweden
