Catching Stray Parts

When I'm building small projects, tiny parts that fall off the bench seem to get lost forever. Searching for them on the floor is hard on my knees. My solution: I fastened a strip of Velcro® hook-and-loop tape to the bottom fold of my shop apron. I attached the mating strip to the edge of my bench.

Now, when I "tether" myself to the bench, the apron forms a broad pocket that catches any small parts I drop. You can find hook-and-loop tape at any fabric supply store or home center. - Jerry Lathrop; Powhatan, Virginia
