Craftsman RouterA mid-size, fixed-based router can accomplish a wide range of edge-profiling and joint-making operations. Craftsman's new 12.5-amp, 2.25hp Fixed Base Router (model 28190) is feature-packed, and it should fit nicely into this category. The machine is equipped with a six-setting variable-speed control, offering a speed range of 12,000 to 25,000 rpm. It has soft start to reduce torque twisting at startup, as well as electronic feedback control to help maintain constant speed under load. Sears says the bit is secured by a positive cam-locking mechanism, and the machine has both 1/4” and 1/2” chucks to accept a wide variety of cutters.

Other features include tear-drop handles, clear sub-bases sized to fit guide bushings and an LED light to brighten the cutting area. The tool also comes with a 1-1/4” vacuum attachment adapter for more efficient dust and chip collection. It stores in a provided carry case. Street price for Craftsman's 2.25 Fixed-base Router is $129.99. Visit www.sears.com for more info.
