Creative Wooden Boxes Book CoverCarole Rothman is back with her second book on creating items with a scroll saw that look like they came from a lathe, router or band saw. Her newest volume, titled Creative Wooden Boxes from the Scroll Saw, includes techniques that emulate the effect of a router's internal lips for making box lids and bottoms, the use of materials like inlace and veneer, and step-by-step instructions for her scroll-sawn box technique. Other designs included are boxes shaped like foodstuffs (cupcakes, pie, ice cream sundae), miniature furniture pieces (china cabinet, blanket chest, bookcase) and geometric designs (round, square, five-lobed). Creative Wooden Boxes from the Scroll Saw (Fox Chapel Publishing, ISBN 978-1-56523-541-0) is priced at $24.95.
