For a number of years, General Tools & Instruments has offered this aluminum clamping jig system for building dowel joints, but the company has just added a convenient storage box with pre-molded compartments to store everything you need for the job. It has also expanded some of the included supplies. In this new kit, you get the doweling jig with screw clamp and three bushings in 1/4-, 5/16- and 3/8-in.-diameter sizes that thread into the jig. They are re-positionable on the jig body so you can make edge-to-edge, right-angle corner or right angle edge-to-surface dowel joints. The kit also includes three brad-point drill bits to match the bushing sizes and three steel collars for boring stopped holes. Six dowel-center points will help mark dowel locations for drilling, and you get two each of 1/4-, 5/16- and 3/8-in. sizes.
