Hitachi WH18DBDL Impact DriverPart of a new line of 18-volt lithium ion brushless motor products from Hitachi is the WH18DBDL Brushless Impact Driver. Powered by 3.0Ah lithium-ion slide type batteries (it comes with two), the WH18DBDL is 6" long and weighs 3.7 pounds. It has a torque of 1,420 inch/pounds for heavy-duty applications like sinking deck screws and a limited impact mode in additional to the traditional continuous mode (in which the tool impacts until the trigger is released). In limited impact mode, the driver is electronically stopped after about four impacts, in order to minimize excessive torque when driving small or delicate fasteners. Four microprocessor controlled speeds, selected with the push of a button, offer impact rates up to 3,200 bpm. The WH18DBDL sells for $279.
