Sometimes we have to take an inside measurement, so we make do a very simple “instrument." Two dowels, a wood block with two holes and two pieces of plastic tube. I drew a caliper, but it isn't necessary, it's possible to use a rule. I used that, because I make RC model aircraft, and the things are small, but I like woodworking too!
