Fowl Plane
From the forges of Knee Lielson, comes the next in a line of "featherweight" hand planes: the No. 13 39/64 Fowl-up. This little gem features a soft, overmolded front knob with a bill-shaped contour for greater comfort. The body is made of waterproof duck-tile iron, so it's virtually quack-proof. It's perfect for smoothing plucky featherboards, preening those unruly dovetail joints and skimming the pupils off of bird's eye maple. Woodworker's Journal's own Chris "The Tool Toady" Marshall gives it a thumb's up, saying the Foul-up "glides through tough face grain quicker than a duck on the wing". The Fowl-up Plane sells for $4.95, payable in seven easy installments of 71 cents.
