Laundry detergent is an effective alternative to pricey blade cleaners. The enzymes in detergent that remove organic stains from your clothes soften baked-on saw blade residue, too. Mix a concentrated amount of detergent with water in a shallow pan to cover the blade and let it soak for a half hour. Scrub off the gunk with a bristle brush. Rinse and dry the blade and coat it with a rust-inhibiting spray. - Mike Fedor, Canton, Ohio
