Rob's PortraitWhile the question “what is your favorite hardwood” might seem like one of those silly magazine cover lines (What is YOUR workshop I.Q.?), I am actually serious in my curiosity.  Why, you ask?  Well, because if you had asked me three or four years ago what my favorite was, I would have answered without hesitating - cherry lumber, specifically, curly cherry. But if you asked me today ... the answer would be different.

Now I know that the singular fact that I have a favorite hardwood means that I have passed a woodworking geek-test of tremendous proportions, but that is kind of the point.  I want to know that I am not alone in this, that there are other woodworkers out there who are just as wacky over walnut, bonkers about birch or manic regarding maple as I am about …

So here is the deal. I am asking you to send in an email declaring your favorite hardwood, and next eZine, after we share your information, I will let you know my new favorite. (I don’t want to have undue influence on your choices!)
