Reason for Resawn?

Resawing I keep seeing references to “resawn” wood. Why would somebody resaw wood? That just seems like a waste of time and glue. Wouldn't it just be better to saw it down to the size you need the first time?

Chad Mitchell: I've...never thought of that. You're right! I guess I've always just been resawing things whenever I'm told to. And you're right, gluing these boards together just so I can saw them again is a real pain.

I have to go back and review my entire woodworking process now. Thanks a lot.

Ron Jobstone: I don't have to worry about this, as I buy all my wood pre-resawn.
