I just bought a roughing gouge and after turning for awhile the top was cutting into my hand.  I tried rounding them off a little but didn't want to mess up the tool.  I thought about wrapping a rag around it (not too bright).  I did however put on a piece of foam pipe insulation on it where my hand gripped it and it worked great. - TUCKER
