Issue: Issue 307

Our
thoughts turned to woodturning in last issue's eZine, which was a
special issue devoted to the topic. Some readers liked that. Some
didn't. - Editor
"I
have been involved in woodworking for over 55 years, but have only
started turning in the last 2 years. I have found it to be a blast.
It's like a new life. The rules have changed! I have new challenges
and look forward to each one. Thanks for your issue mainly devoted to
turning." - Jim Nuelle
"Nice
issue but for myself, who does not turn, I was disappointed. Of
course, turners are woodworkers too! I look forward to your Journal
each time and read every word. A quick skim was sufficient this
time." - Nell Rodgers
Another
Option for Sharpening Forstner Bits
One
of the questions in last issue's Q&A section dealt with
sharpening Forstner bits. After that appeared, we heard from an
industry representative who said his company's new product is just
the thing for this task. - Editor
"Trend
has introduced a mini taper file that is IDEAL for the sharpening of
Forstner bits. We have had a master turner (Morris Schlesinger)
demonstrating the tool at turning shows. He demonstrates cutting end
grain cherry with a Forstner bit on his lathe. Morris uses the
Forstner bit until it smokes. He then removes the Forstner bit from
the lathe and does a 30-second sharpening. He then re-chucks the bit
and proceeds to cut ribbons on the cherry!" - Jamie LaMuraglia,
