This May the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding is offering a 6 day workshop, held over 3 weekends, in model wooden boat building. Model boat building is surprisingly similar to building a full size wooden boat. Choose between a 12 foot 6 inch Chaisson Dory or the 14 foot Chamberlain Skiff to build and take home. Both are popular wooden dory designs and make great learning boats for your first model. The course is instructed by gifted artist and boatbuilder Gary Larkins. Class size is kept small, so register soon! Dates: May 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 & 17. Time: 9am-5pm each day Cost: $575 tuition, $35 materials fee Place: Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding, 42 N Water Street, Port Hadlock WA. More Information: For complete course information, outline, and registration forms, visit our Website: www.nwboatschool.org Phone: 360-385-4948 Email: Info@nwboatschool.org

The Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding's summer workshop series kicks off on July 10th this year. The 8-part workshop series will build a 16 foot Swampscott Dory from beginning to end-that would be from lofting to oar making in boat talk. The Swampscott Dory is a historically important boat used for fishing, because it could be launched directly into the ocean from the beach. Today it makes a great recreational boat for rowing and less serious fishing. The workshops are instructed by full time instructor Richard Wilmore. Workshops include lofting, set-up, lapstrake planking, steambending, fitting out, finishing, and oar making. You can enroll in the entire series or take an individual workshop in your area of interest. Dates: weekends from July 10-August 30, 2009 Times: 9am-5pm each day Place: Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding, 42 N Water Street, Port Hadlock WA More Information: View complete course descriptions and download registration forms from our website: www.nwboatschool.org.
