With their iRecycle Kit program, you purchase a pre-paid mailer box for collecting used batteries: rechargeables from power tools; both rechargeable and non-rechargeable household batteries like D-Cell, C-cell, AA, AAA, 9-volt and button cells; other dry cells; and both batteries and the used electronics themselves when it comes to items like cel phones, pagers and more.
When you’ve got your box full, you send it in to Battery Solutions, and they promise to appropriately sort and properly recycle your items – and send you a receipt that says they did so.
The iRecycle Kit is designed for individuals and small businesses, with pricing dependent on what size of container you feel fits your needs. A pre-paid mailer box which holds 12 pounds of batteries and electronics costs $24, while a pail to hold 55 pounds of the items costs $74 (that one’s available only in the continental U.S.). Other options fall in between those two ends of the spectrum, and Battery Solutions also runs similar programs for larger businesses.
