Cleaner Drilling with Pivoting Vacuum Jig

Cleaner Drilling with Pivoting Vacuum Jig

I’ve improved dust and chip collection considerably at my drill press using this adjustable jig for my shop vac hose.

The hose port friction-fits into a couple of lengths of PVC pipe solvent-welded to an elbow. The pipe slides back and forth in a bracket made of scrap. A wingbolt tightens against the pipe, so I can move and lock the pipe closer or further from the drill bit as needed. The pipe bracket mounts to a base made of plywood with a pivot joint for added adjustability. It attaches to a T-track on my drill press table with a star knob and bolt.

Now, I can direct suction right where I need it.
