Dust Collection Helper

Dust Collection Helper

I was working with some mahogany today and, even though I have a dust collector connection added to the bottom wheel cover of my bandsaw, I was getting fine sawdust coming off the blade covering the cut line on the top of the wood. I could not cut an inch of the 4″ thick mahogany without the dust completely covering the cut line for at least an inch ahead of the blade. I took the 1-1/2″ hose from an old shop vac and used some rubber bands and a piece of string to affix the non-flexible end of the hose to the upper part of the bandsaw. Then I hooked the other end of the smaller hose to a larger shop vac on the discharge port. The volume of air blowing over the top of the wood allowed me to saw out the tambour clock in short order without having to clean the sawdust off my cut line.
