In a media event held Wednesday evening at IWF, Kreg Tool Company and Triton Precision Power Tools announced a new partnership that should be of interest to woodworkers who are fans of one — or both — of these established brands.
Kreg announced that it is now the exclusive U.S. distributor of Triton’s tool product line. Additionally, Kreg will be handling service issues related to Triton power tools in the future. In turn, Triton will be distributing Kreg tools to a larger extent in the United Kingdom, where Triton is headquartered.
The familiar and distinct blue or orange color schemes of each brand, and the tools they currently carry, will continue forward. And Kreg and Triton are not merging into one company. Both brands see the partnership as a positive step forward to better penetrate their shared markets.
Kreg has been a market leader with its venerable pocket hole jigs, router products and clamping solutions, plus other workshop accessories, for a long time. Triton offers routers, circular saws, dowel jointers, sanders, various power tool work station options and router table accessories.
It will be interesting to see where both brands take this new initiative from here. But the next time you visit your local woodworking tool supplier and see a Triton router hanging beneath a Kreg router table, you’ll know why. A new synergy is at work.
