Makita’s Two-battery Circular Saw

Makita’s Two-battery Circular Saw

n350TPMakita-Two-Battery-Circ-Saw1If you’re a believer in 18-volt cordless tools, imagine the run time possibilities of harnessing two of those batteries at once on a single tool, for a total of 36 volts. Makita has now made that a reality with the new XSH01X/Z Cordless 7-1⁄4-in. Circular Saw. It is billed as the world’s first 7-1⁄4-in. circular saw powered by two 18-volt batteries, providing the performance of a corded circular saw. The Makita-built motor delivers 4,800 rpm for cutting and ripping and, in performance testing, this saw made 250 cuts in 2×4 lumber per charge: up to 2.5 times more cuts per charge than Makita’s 6-1⁄2-in. Cordless Circular Saw. Testing also showed the n350TPMakita-Two-Battery-Circ-Saw-2XSH01X/Z to crosscut a 2×10 in 1.5 seconds, matching the cutting time of a corded saw. The XSH01X/Z’s 7-1⁄4-in. blade has a cutting capacity of 2-5⁄8-in. at 90˚. With both batteries installed, the saw weighs 10.1 lbs. The XSH01X model is a kit including the saw, two 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion batteries, 30 minute single-battery charger, 7-1⁄4-in. framing blade, saw guide, and contractor bag, with suggested price of $795. The XSH01Z model is the tool only (no batteries), with a list price of $435.
