This project plan appeared in Woodworker's Journal Volume 5, Issue 6, Page 40. Nov/Dec 1981. Here's a very basic, build-it-in-a-few-minutes type plan for a shop-made bar
clamp. It's ideal when you're halfway through a large project and realize you're
existing clamps are just an inch or two shorter than you need. If you have a
few basic materials - a long bolt, a threaded insert, a C-clamp and a length
of 2x4 - you're in business again. This is also a good way to build an edge-clamping
device for edge-gluing lumber to make large panels.
