This project plan appeared in Woodworker's Journal Volume 11, Issue 6, Page 44. Nov/Dec 1987.Every shop needs one, and most of the commercially available tapering jigs
fall a little short. So, the logical thing to do is build your own. This plan
calls for toggle clamps to hold the stock firmly; a guide that runs in the miter
slot instead of trying to hold the jig against the fence; adjustability at both
ends, instead of the standard hinge; and an almost infinate number of ways to
arrange the hold-downs, so irregular or large pieces can be accommodated. It
will handle stock up to 2-1/2" thick, 4" wide and 31" long.
Jigs
Approx: 32" long
