American Settle -18th Century (3:1:4)
American Settle -18th Century (3:1:4) This project plan appeared in Woodworker's Journal Volume 3, Issue 1, Page 4. Jan/Feb 1979.

In colonial times, the hearth was so vital to surviving the winter that it became the focus of the home. This settle was placed close to the fire, and its design is such that on cold evenings the backboards kept chilly drafts at bay. This is an easy project to build in stock 3/4" pine, and it works wonderfully in an entryway with a mat below the seat for boots and shoes.
