Ready…Set…Go!

Rob-Portrait351If you are like me, this is the time of year that you start to get that unsettled, fluttery feeling in the pit of your stomach … it’s gift building season. If you are exactly like me, you can ignore that feeling until, say, December 11th. Which, of course, is not only my birthday (I’ll be 55, thanks for asking!), but is also exactly two weeks from “the big day.” After all, Christmas is in the air (according to advertisers) right around Halloween.

I suppose the prudent among us will already have checked several projects off their holiday gift list. This does not make the rest of us like you very much — but it does prove that we should at least be doing the mental preparation for gift making.

Drawing a blank? Never fear, this year Woodworker’s Journal is here to help you. Our December issue, which (for top-secret reasons known only to those of us in the publishing industry) will be available at the end of this month, has several great gift ideas in its pages. From large (an Arts & Crafts entertainment center) to small (a toy airplane built by yours truly) and other sizes in between, we have gift ideas designed to help.

And let me just say, in case you were wondering, that several of these gifts could easily be built in the time between December 11 and the 25th. What a coincidence!
