But if it seems like there isn’t much new “under the sun” when it comes to stain and varnish, sometimes all it takes is a new player in the market with some fresh ideas.
Rust-Oleum, you say…and wood finish?
Yep, and they’re doing it in a big way with a whole new line of interior and exterior wood care products. We saw some fresh new stain colors and got the scoop on industry-first reflective additives that will make exterior finishes cooler to UV rays so they last longer. Rust-oleum’s got a new varnish sheen that feels like soft leather, plus water-based poly that takes an amber tone, similar to oil-based.
But, Rust-Oleum isn’t really new to wood finishes … even if the brand is largely known for spray paints. Varathane®, Zinsser® and Watco® brands – household brand names for woodworkers – also fall under the Rust-Oleum umbrella of products. So, there’s industry experience here, for sure.
I’m looking forward to trying some of these products out on future projects. If you do too, leave us a comment here on the blog and tell us what you think. I’m sure the Rust-Oleum folks would appreciate the feedback.
