Enjoyed reading your post. It is so true - we all have a lot to be grateful for. It was ironic to run across your post. I have been involved in an exercise with a friend, in which we exchange a gratitude list with each other every day. We committed to do it for 30 days. We are a little over 3 weeks into it. The idea came about during a discussion we were having about why we tend to only see the negative at times. I came to the conclusion that it is a bad habit. That being said, habits can be changed. It is easy to say I am grateful for this and that...but do I actually practice gratitude. Many professions are actually practices. The fields of law and medicine are just two major ones that come to mind. I have no problem turning my life and wellbeing over to someone that is just practicing. Why not practice gratitude?
I am in the field of construction and as we all know - it has been devastated over the last few years. It has been very easy for me to fall prey to all the gloom and doom that is out there. The reality is, I have not missed any meals, I sleep in my own bed every night, and I have my family and friends. In spite of what my mind tells me, I do have a lot to be grateful for. I practice woodworking as a hobby, a way to escape the troubles of the day, to shift my focus more into the present moment. I am truly lucky and grateful to be able to do so. So much more than just making sawdust. Have a great day and thank you for your post.
