Make Your Own Push Block by Repurposing an Old Plane

Old wooden jack planes (with iron and chip breaker removed) make great table saw and jointer push blocks. Screw a cleat on the back and you’re ready to go. They apply downward pressure and are comfortable to use. The one I use is an old plane with checks and cracks, not a useableĀ  plane. I don’t condone using a “good” plane for this, but one that can be re-purposed.
