We all should take pictures of our tools for insurance purposes, but don’t store the photos in your shop or house. Here’s a better solution: create an email account on your favorite web browser to use as an online tool inventory. Then, email each of your digital photos to this account, with the name of the tool identified on the “subject” line.
Create a spreadsheet that catalogs the photos, and email that to your tool account as well. Now, in the event of a fire or theft, you can access your inventory from wherever you are whenever you need to. Be sure to log in to the account periodically to keep it active.
