Carved Dragon Support Beam

Carved Dragon Support Beam

This is a project I did for my wife. She wanted me to cover the main support beam in our living room. I clad it in Cherry wood and then wrapped a hand carved oriental dragon on it.

Nice work, looks like something I might want for my outdoor room supports. Was thinking about telephone poles carved into “something”. would like to see more pics.

I must say that is on of the most creative, cool things Ive seen in a loooong time. Great craftsmanship. How long did this project take?
    Well done!

It took six weeks. It’s 9 ft long on a 17ft column. The column has lock miter joints.
The dragon is in the top third of the column. The dragon faces people as they enter the house. By the way it is a Chinese royal dragon.

It took six weeks to make it. The dragon is 9ft long mounted on a 17ft column. The column was joined with very long runs of lockmiter joints.
