Power Toolmakers: On Your Mark – GET READY

Last eZine I asked three questions. I got a whole lotta answers! (See our Reader’s Response Page for a small sampling of your e-mail.) As to if your time in the shop had changed since 9-11, the answers were mixed. The query regarding building projects to save money engendered the widest divergence of opinion. Many said: “Of course I save money, that’s why I do woodworking.” Other answers were more cryptic, “Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ha ha,” being one of the more direct comments. Another fellow used a more detailed accounting system than I would recommend (his itemization included: “$46.00 plus tip: apology dinner for wife … for scaring her with blood). On the topic of spending tax refunds (several commented on my incorrect use of the term “tax returns” … good eye!), there was almost frightening unanimity. (Distilled, the answer might have been “Well – duh!”) Some folks had their wish-list ready. Some were still in the dreaming stage and some had already received their refund and bought their tools. How efficient!

So if I were a tool seller, I’d be staffing up and getting ready for a run on stock. And for those of you who just can’t make up their mind as to which tool to buy, check out the eZine’s archive … we’ve got a ton of great tool info waiting for just this sort of situation. See you at the tool store!
