The State of the Woodworking Union

Our leaders are telling us that these are unsettling times. The economy is either doing great or terrible, depending on who you talk to. And just a few days ago, President Bush gave us his view of the state of our union. All that is well and good, but what I want to know is the “state of woodworking.”

Here are three of the big questions on my mind:

1) Has your time in the shop increased, decreased or remained constant through the last few months?
2) Are you building more stuff to save money … or simply because you love to work with wood? And finally, that all important question …
3) Will you be using at least part of your tax return on woodworking tools and supplies, or are you cautiously laying it aside until the economy decides where it’s going.

Let me know. As I’ve said here before — I’m curious. And now we’ve added a reader’s response page where I’ll be sharing what you think. So not only will I get the benefit of your ideas and opinions, but selected e-mail missives will be shared with the group. Cool, huh?

I bet you have an opinion!
