Festool TSC 55 Cordless Track Saw

Festool TSC 55 Cordless Track Saw

Festool has long been known for bringing accuracy and safety to circular saw use through its TS 55 and TS 75 Track Saw systems, but the saws have always been corded. Not anymore. Launching this month is the new TSC 55 Cordless Track Saw, which offers the same capabilities of Festool’s TS 55 model but now without the hassle of a power cord.

The saw features Festool’s patented EC-TEC brushless motor technology and can be run on either one or two 18-volt, 5.2 Ah lithium-ion Festool batteries. With two batteries installed, Festool reports that the saw will cut up to 328 feet of sheet goods on a single charge. Or, for a lighter weight alternative (10.1 lbs.), it’s possible to run the saw on just one battery instead. Festool calls this solution a flexible dual battery concept.

The saw’s 6-1/4-in.-dia. blade enables it to cut materials up to 1-15/16-in. thick with the base set at 0 degrees and the saw on a guide rail, or up to 1-7/16-in. with the saw tipped to a 45-degree maximum bevel angle. Without the guide rail, the TSC 55 has a maximum cutting depth of 2-1/8-in. straight down.

Unlike other corded models, the new TSC 55 Track Saw includes a chip collection bag to capture debris and enhance its “use anywhere” versatility. Or, you can connect the saw to one of Festool’s dust extractors.

The company is offering the TSC 55 in three buying configurations. The “Basic” version includes the saw and a Systainer storage container but no battery, charger or guide rail. TSC 55 Basic package sells for $465. TSC 55 Plus-XL — a second purchasing option priced at $725 — includes the Basic package plus a charger and an 18-volt battery pack. There’s also a TSC 55 Plus-XL-FS version ($825) that offers the contents of the Plus kit as well as a guide rail.

The tiered system, with the option of a “bare” Basic kit, enables Festool owners who have other Festool 18-volt tools to use their batteries and charger with the TSC 55 and save money over purchasing these items again.

Festool’s TSC 55 Track Saw, in all three package iterations, is available now through authorized Festool dealers. It comes with the company’s comprehensive protection warranty, which covers repairs on manufacturing defects for 36 months from the date of purchase.
