Flat-out Good!

Scott-Phillips-ImageTake a look in our Woodworker’s Journal September/October 2005 print issue, and you’ll find we have a whole bunch of cool things happening. Ian Kirby goes into detail on all the critical components of chair design. I have already received several letters detailing how much readers liked the article and how they can’t find articles with such depth elsewhere. (Why they would be looking elsewhere is beyond me!)RJ-Image-Standing

Yours truly also tested several contractor’s saws and managed to somehow get myself into a bit of trouble with several manufacturers. Ah, I’m sure (hoping) their ire will pass.

But the big news is that we introduced Scott Phillips to the pages of the Woodworker’s Journal. Scott has two series currently running on many PBS stations; his long-running American Workshop® and his new show, American HomeShop®, which stars his wife Suzy as well. He is a charming man and so fun to work with. (And a good woodworker to boot.)

And that brings me to the point of this editorial. In the magazine, Scott and I offered a challenge to our readers. The idea was to see what sort of project you all could come up with using just one sheet of 3/4″ plywood. So what’s stopping you? Put on your thinking cap and grab some sheet stock … you could become famous!

Sincerely,

— Rob Johnstone, Woodworker’s Journal
