Man alive! When I said that I thought you would have an opinion about my flooring conundrum, I didn’t know the half of it. I got nearly as many flooring suggestions as I received woodworking bromides when I requested them a few issues back. And as usual, you did not disappoint … you will find many of your suggestions and opinions in our Feedback Department, but I’ll give you a feel for some of them here.
One of the recurring themes in the flurry of feedback was summed up in, “What is your problem? If you are married, ask your wife, and if you are not … what difference does it make?” The reasoning there is hard to fault, but many folks simply offered an argument for their favorite species of flooring. I got an equal number of comments saying that I was an idiot if I didn’t use manufactured hardwood flooring or if I did use it. (This seems to indicate that I am an idiot regardless — again, a difficult argument to fight.) Curiously, while I got quite a few suggestions to use bamboo, I heard many comments from folks with bamboo floors that were very disappointed with its durability.
In any case, I am grateful for your suggestions, and now I am more determined than ever to get the job done. And, in response to many of your requests, when the task is complete, I will share photos of it with you all.
