Milwaukee has introduced the new M18™ REDLITHIUM™ XC5.0 Extended Capacity Battery Pack, which they say delivers up to 2.5 times more runtime, 20 percent more power and two times more life than standard lithium-ion batteries. The design of the battery also routes water away from the electronics and out of the battery pack, minimizes heat, and prevents pack failures from vibration or drops. The battery is able to operate in weather conditions below 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 degrees Celsius). According to Paul Fry, vice president of product marketing for Milwaukee Tool, “ This battery is a ground-up redesign that delivers the best combination of cell selection, pack construction and electronics to deliver maximum performance, durability and runtime.” Compatible with all 60-plus options in Milwaukee’s M18 cordless line, the REDLITHIUM XC5.0 battery has a suggested retail price of $129.
