I don’t know about you, but there comes a point in nearly every woodworking project where it all seems to come together and I feel like “Oh, yes — I like it!” Sometimes it is when I test fit all the parts together before glue-up and I finally see its shape, size and proportion of a project in “real life.” Often it is when the first coat of finish goes onto the wood and I see the figure of the grain pop and come to life. That can be magical.
I’ve also gotten that jazzed-up feeling when a tenon slides perfectly into a mortise, the shoulders seat properly, and suddenly all is well with the world. (What could be wrong? My table legs are going to be totally sturdy!)
So what about you? Do you have that woodworking moment? If so, when does it occur? Let us know and we will share those that we can.
