RYOBI™ is launching eight innovative new measuring tools that use your smartphone and a free RYOBI Phone Works™ app to control them. The tools include a laser distance measure, laser pointer/transfer level, laser level, infrared thermometer, moisture meter, inspection scope, stud finder and noise-suppressing headphones with a microphone feature. The tools plug into your phone’s headphone jack for connectivity, and the app enables you to control any of them with a single Ryobi Phone Works home screen. The app is available to download from the iTunes App Store or Google Play, and it’s optimized for iPhones running OS 6.0 or later or Android phones with OS 4.0 or later. All eight tools are available on Homedepot.com now and will be in Home Depot stores by Oct 21. Here’s a brief overview of each tool’s features and benefits:
ES1000 Laser Distance Measure ($79.97)
Take length, area, volume, indirect, and continuous measurements with 1/16-in. accuracy at 9 ft. The device features a range finder to alert you when a preset distance is reached. The free app turns your phone screen into a versatile management system, displaying your project with digital measurement read-outs in Imperial, metric, fractional or decimal display options. A range finder alerts you when a preset range is reached. You can also capture high-definition images and videos, share measurements through email and social networks, and create files of each project for future reference.
ES1500 Laser Pointer/Transfer Level ($14.97)
Projects a dot based on your phone’s position and uses your smartphone’s sensors to function as a laser transfer level. The free app allows you to set a timer and offers an SOS projection feature.
ES1600 Laser Level ($39.97)
Projects a crosshair laser line and transforms your phone’s screen into a digital display of your project. The device uses your phone’s sensors for level detection. The high-definition display shows measurement data and allows you to match and customize angles. When you have the data you need, the app lets you capture, store and send data/images for an easier way to manage your projects. A phone mount clip also is included for attaching your phone to a tripod.
ES2000 Infrared Thermometer ($49.97)
Harnesses your smartphone’s technology to take temperature measurements between -22°F and 662°F in real time, set temperature ranges with alert function, and switch easily between Celsius/Fahrenheit readings. Monitors and tracks moisture content in wood, drywall, cement, and other building materials by way of a pinned moisture meter that reads moisture content and displays the results on your phone screen. You can track a wide range of moisture content between 6% to 44% and compare your results to acceptable humidity ranges based on your geographic location. The app lets you capture high quality images, share results through email and social networks, and includes a data-charting feature that measures and plots your readings over time.
ES5000 Inspection Scope ($99.97)
This unique device creates a dedicated wireless network that connects to your smartphone, and the free mobile app turns your phone screen into a display of your inspection site — whether that’s inside of a wall, a pipe or other hidden structure.
