Fun with Turning

Rob-Portrait351Last Saturday I spent four hours introducing folks to woodturning. We had 12 lathes set up and used the Rockler pizza cutter and bottle opener kits as the make-and-take product. I have to tell you, getting 12 people (twice in a day) spinning handle blanks and making wood chips was a bit stressful as I thought about it. But it turned out to be just a hoot — with everyone doing really well, turning some very creative handles and, to a person, having a great time. The event was the Craftsman MAKEcation 2015, held in Brooklyn, New York, and it was one of the best times I’ve had since I got married … (Smooth, huh?)

It was fun hanging out with woodworkers, experienced and new, and seeing how much folks really like making things with their own hands. It was a great weekend!
