Biscuit Strength in Cabinet Doors?

Biscuit Strength in Cabinet Doors?

Are biscuits strong enough to use in the stiles and rails of a cabinet door?

John Brock: I would never use biscuits or dowels as a substitute for “honest” joinery. A handmade cabinet is not disposable furniture. It will be treasured by a family member or friend for generations. I would always use a mortise and tenon to join rails and stiles in a cabinet door.

Michael Dresdner: Biscuits will be more than adequate for a small or light door with a rigid plywood panel glued into place. On the other hand, a large door with thin stiles and rails surrounding a heavy floating glass panel might want more than biscuits.
