HVLP Coarse Spray Droplets

HVLP Coarse Spray Droplets

I own a 3-stage turbine HVLP unit. The gun delivers coarse droplets at the outside edge of the spray pattern. This problem is particularly noticeable when spraying dye which is very thin. Is it something that can remedied?

Tim Inman: HVLP outfits are very sensitive to nozzle tip and needle selection and maintenance. Start by choosing the right tip and needle combination for the material you are spraying. Also, be sure the outside edges of the nozzle tip are square and sharp, not rounded over and tumbled as is so often seen.

Michael Dresdner: You might be running the fan too far open for that size turbine. Try reducing the length of the fan and you may get a better overall spray pattern.
