Opposing or Facing Rings When Laminating?

Opposing or Facing Rings When Laminating?

Do you have the rings oppose or face each other when you align grain while laminating wood to create thicker boards?

Stephen Rosasco: Opposite; if the grain is parallel, warping is more likely.

John Swanson: I try to use an odd number of pieces so there will be no seam at the center of the finished board, and try to alternate the growth rings.

Richard Jones: I generally align the orientation of the growth rings. This way, the boards tend to move in harmony rather than in opposition.
