Recommend a Non-Toxic Finish?

Can you please recommend a non-toxic/natural way to preserve my wood fence? My main concern is that I have animals of all kinds on my property that could be affected by typical commercial wood treatments. I’ve heard that even linseed oil made for this purpose has toxins in it. What else can you recommend?

Michael Dresdner: My favorite fence treatment is Wolman Extreme. It is a waterbased 100% acrylic coating that is very durable, easy to apply, fast drying, low odor, and once it cures, is perfectly safe for humans and animals. Best of all, it can be applied to wood that is still somewhat green, so there is no waiting time needed for finishing.

For what it is worth, I have never heard of any animals being affected by any wood finish. I’d be more concerned about wood treatments, such as the CCA used in pressure treated wood, a component of most fences. However, my wooded lot teems with animals and my pressure treated fence posts don’t seem to bother any of them.
