A Substitute for Elbow Grease

A Substitute for Elbow Grease

I’m looking for a substitute for the discontinued “Duffy’s Elbow Grease,” a heavy Vaseline-like gel that paired with 0000 steel wool for rubbing out the final finish.

Kevin Hancock: Wool-Lube is available from H. Behlen and Mohawk. If you can’t find it, use Murphy’s Oil Soap, which is basically a thin version of Wool-Lube.

Michael Dresdner: For those of you who prefer the chemistry, they are thicker and thinner versions of potassium oleate, which you can get at any chemical supply house.
