I am getting near the finishing stage of a plant stand made from mahogany. I want the wood’s natural beauty to pop but also need the protection of a urethane. I have heard of a tung oil/poly mix and do you know the recipe?
Michael Dresdner: Yes, but I wouldn’t recommend it, any more than I would suggest that a woodworker manufacture his own router from scratch rather than buy one already made. Unless finish formulating is your hobby, leave the “tool” manufacturing to the pros. If all you want is a finish to use, buy one that fits your needs. Fortunately, in this case, there are several.
