Laminated Cutting Board

Laminated Cutting Board

I’d like to make a laminated cutting board. I have heard much discussion about food-safe finishes, but nothing about food-safe glue. Clearly, the glue will need to be waterproof and not just water-resistant. Any suggestions?

John Brock: I’m not aware of a glue that is rated by the FDA as food-safe, but any waterproof, fully cured glue will pose far less of a hazard than the nasty wee beasties that can live in a wood cutting board.

Michael Dresdner: I would go with Titebond® III as it works nicely on cutting boards. You can contact Titebond and ask them if they consider it food-safe, but since it cures to a rather inert plastic film, the odds are certainly in your favor.
