Measuring and Cutting Angles for Shapes

Measuring and Cutting Angles for Shapes

Is there a tool or method I can use to measure and calculate angles needed for any given shape?

John Brock: I don’t mean to sound flippant, but it depends on the shape. I have a variety of tools I use to measure angles depending on the situation. These include a sliding bevel gauge, both machinist and drafting protractors, a speed square, and a carpenter’s square, just to name a few. I’ve even used string, measuring tape and a calculator. When I’m designing, I use a CAD program called Rhinoceros and use it to calculate the setup angles and produce the shop drawings I need for cutting parts.
